IPTV would Generate More Income

According to a report made available by Informa Telecoms & Media titled "IPTV-A Global Analysis", the television service delivered by internet protocol-IPTV has the potential of being used by an estimated number of  38.4 million homes worldwide by the year 2012 thereby a possibility of generating huge income from the service.

As stated in their analysis, IPTV subscriptions and video-on-demand services would be generating an estimated amount of $14.7billion in the international market by the year 2012, with about $13.6 billion from subscription revenues and $1.1billion from VOD.

The media research manager at Informa, Adan Thomas said that the forecast for the short term is of about 10.6 million by the end of this year which double the figure they had in 2006-$5.3 million.

He further stated that "Much of the recent growth has come from service launches by European telcos, although US cablers are also starting to look anxiously over their shoulders at the success of U-Verse and FiOS,"
