Accedo Secures IPTV Contract Deal with Sonaecom
Recently, companies have been forming alliances to offer IPTV services and this could partly be as a result of the realization that in order to strive well in this highly competitive market they need to collaborate. And the latest alliance is between Accedo Broadband and Sonaecom.
The agreement involves the provision of Clix SmartTV IPTV service in Portugal Sonaecom to Accedo. Accedo is a content aggregator and distributor for IPTV and consumer electronics and the company's interactive 'Funspot' gaming applications will also be included in the offer.
The Funspot portfolio includes casino, card, and board games, quizzes and puzzles.
Clix SmarTV, which is the first commercial IPTV service in Portugal, comprises 100 national and international digital channels. Viewers can also sign up for further premium content.
João Mendes Pedro of Sonaecom commended Accedo for its focus on IPTV, its flexible approach and its comprehensive portfolio of games.
While confirming the contract deal, Michael Lantz, Accedo Broadband's CEO said that "IPTV opens up new opportunities for interactive content, such as gaming. Casual gaming on the TV has proven to be an excellent light entertainment service, and it is our firm belief that usage will grow considerably over the next few years, in Portugal and elsewhere."
